London Road Development update – March 2020
Camberley town centre is currently in the process of significant regeneration led by Surrey Heath Borough Council (SHBC). These regeneration projects will ultimately create a modern and vibrant town for Surrey Heath’s residents and visitors.
The London Road Development forms a large part of Camberley’s future regeneration.
The site is approximately 5.5 acres and is situated on the north side of Camberley town centre, fronting the A30. The new development will be a mixed-use scheme that includes new public spaces and will greatly improve the town’s gateway appearance from the A30.
Kier Property was selected as the developer through a competitive procurement exercise that was managed by SHBC. The development agreement is currently being finalised, and once complete, Kier Property will begin public consultation and design development as part of the preparation for a planning application.
The development will take place in three phases and is likely to take approximately eight to ten years to complete. The anticipated phase boundaries are indicated on the diagram below:
Due to the complexity of developing a planning application for a scheme of this scale and ambition, the development is at least two years away from the start of demolition and construction work for Phase 1. Until then, the area is very much open for business!
There are lots of fantastic, varied independent businesses currently situated in the London Road site including cool bars and restaurants, hairdressers and beauty salons, dry-cleaner’s and specialist shops – please continue to visit and support them.
SHBC’s Economic and Development team are providing ongoing support to these businesses to help them find new premises within Camberley or the borough depending on each of the business’ requirements.
We will publish more updates on the development as they become available.
