The improvement works to Camberley High Street, Princess Way and Knoll Walk will take place from 6 January 2020 until 15 January 2021.

Dyer and Butler are the Civil Engineering & Construction Contractors who have been selected by Surrey Heath Borough Council to complete the works.

Works will be carried out in five phases and we will work with the contractor and businesses on the High Street and Princess Way as much as we can.

Regular updates on the project will be shared via SHBC’s website, Heathscene magazine and social media channels. If you have any questions regarding this project we have prepared a list of answers to commonly asked questions.  If you have an additional query please email Camberley.HighStreet@dyerandbutler.co.uk.

The construction will cover a full range of highway works from carriageway and footpath reconstruction to improving the lighting and landscaping.

In order to allow the works to the highways and footpath to be undertaken in a safe manner, the High Street will be closed to general traffic throughout the construction period. The closure of the High Street will be from the junction with Pembroke Broadway to the junction with Obelisk Way. Service vehicles with a prearranged agreement with Dyer and Butler will be able to access properties on the High Street, however rear service yards should be used in the first instance if accessible.

High Street businesses will be open as usual throughout the project.

A diversion route for vehicles will be clearly signed. Vehicles travelling east on Pembroke Broadway (D3514) can continue onto Portesbery Road (D3511) and use Knoll Road (D3512) to head north. Vehicles travelling west on Pembroke Broadway (D3514) can continue onto Southwell Park Road (D3516) and use Charles Street (D3515) to head north. Vehicles approaching the High Street (D3512) from the south can use either of the above options to head north.

A minimum of 1.8m wide pedestrian access paths will be maintained at all times on Princess Way and the High Street throughout the construction period. Knoll Walk will be closed to pedestrians for the construction period as this will be the location of the site compound.

Surrey Heath Borough Council will be working closely with Dyer and Butler to ensure any disruption is kept to a minimum and that public safety is the priority throughout the construction period.
